Tom Wilson Begins Offseason Training In Toronto After Career Year With Capitals
The Capitals alternate captain is working with Matt Nichol and Paragenix Systems again.
Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson is back in the gym and training, as he is back home in Toronto, Ontario, as part of his offseason regimen.
Wilson posted on his Instagram story that he was in the gym training with Matt Nichol at Paragenix Systems, which hosts a number of NHL players and professional athletes.

The 31-year-old is coming off a pivotal year with the Capitals, where he posted a career-high 33 goals and 32 assists for 65 points in 81 games, along with a 19.5 shooting percentage and 100 penalty minutes.
“(It’s about) just leaving it all out there. As your responsibility and your role grows, you get more thrown your way and you try and do your best with it,” Wilson said, adding, “There’s an expectation in our room, and something I strive to do is just play as hard as (I) can… The willingness to kind of do anything for the team will keep you moving in the right direction.”
Wilson also took on a bigger leadership role for Washington, as he led all forwards in average ice time per game (18:44 minutes), was first over the boards for the penalty kill and served as a full-time alternate captain.
“Honestly, I just try to come to the rink and help the team,” Wilson said of his role. “That’s something from Day 1 as a rookie until now that has been the foundation of who I want to be as a player and who I want to be as a teammate.”
Wilson usually spends time training with Nichol and Paragenix Systems in the summers, and will also likely get some ice time before returning to the District for informal skates closer to training camp.
