Pierre-Luc Dubois Day-To-Day, Capitals Make Lineup Changes As They Look To Fill Void & Overpower Lightning
The Capitals will be without one of their top forwards in Pierre-Luc Dubois on Tuesday against Tampa.
ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals will be without a key piece of the lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, as Pierre-Luc Dubois will sit out with a lower-body injury.
Per coach Spencer Carbery, Dubois is day-to-day. He left Sunday’s win over the New York Rangers late in the third.
With Dubois out, Connor McMichael will take over as the second-line center with Aliaksei Protas and Tom Wilson as the Capitals try to contain Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and the Lightning’s top offensive weapons.
“We handle them very, very carefully,” Carbery said. “We’ll (manage) probably by committee, but I’m sure (that top line) will get a heavy dose of Pro and Mikey. We’re going to have to do our job. We all know the strengths of Tampa’s lineup… that’s where it starts. You have to be able to limit what they’re able to do, because they have the ability to absolutely take over a game.”
Hendrix Lapierre will draw back in on the third line with Sonny Milano and Ryan Leonard, while Anthony Beauvillier will remain on the top trio with Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome.
On defense, Trevor van Riemsdyk will draw back in after being a healthy scratch on Sunday. Logan Thompson starts in goal.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
