Caps Open Thread: Offseason Needs, Stanley Cup Thoughts, Expectations
Share your thoughts on the Capitals as they enter the thick of the offseason.
As the dog days of summer continue, the Washington Capitals find themselves in an interesting spot.
Washington is on the outside looking in, watching the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers wrap up their Stanley Cup Final. Former Capitals Connor Brown and Vitek Vanecek are in the running for a ring.
But watching Florida and Edmonton go toe-to-toe, one has to wonder what’s on the agenda for D.C. this offseason.
Unlike last year, there’s not expected to be a huge overhaul, but management isn’t ruling out change. Washington has to revamp the middle-six, specifically that third line, while adding some secondary scoring and preparing for life post-Alex Ovechkin.
There are big names hitting the market, though the trade market is also intriguing going into July. Meanwhile, some insurance on the blue line wouldn’t hurt.
With quite a bit to consider, DC Backcheck is holding its first open thread. What do you think the Capitals should do this summer?

To kick it off, I've heard some interesting names being tossed around. I do think the Capitals are willing to look at all options and could surprise with an aggressive move, though it all depends on if the right deal comes to fruition with pieces the team is willing to give up.
I also think that the third-line center role should be Connor McMichael's to lose going into camp.
