Live From The Locker Room: Wilson, Chychrun & More Break Down Capitals' Win Over Lightning
Hear from the Washington Capitals following their 3-2 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
WASHINGTON — Things weren’t going according to plan for the Washington Capitals to kick things off on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Plays weren’t coming together, the puck was bouncing and after 20, they were down 1-0.
“When we’re not making plays, we might as well run around a little bit,” Connor McMichael said postgame.
Enter Tom Wilson. The 31-year-old led the charge for Washington, throwing his weight around and picking up a goal — the team’s first power-play goal of the season — and two helpers en route to a 3-2 comeback overtime win over Tampa.
“Unicorn… he’s a massive reason why we get two points tonight,” coach Spencer Carbery said.
Here’s what he, along with Jakob Chychrun, Connor McMichael and Aliaksei Protas, had to say after the victory.
