Capitals Lineup Combinations & Notes vs. Jets; Dowd To IR As Trineyev Recalled From Hershey
The Capitals will see some changes as they continue to play without Nic Dowd.
WASHINGTON – The Washington Capitals got some tough news on the Nic Dowd front, as the center has been placed on the injured reserve as he deals with an upper-body ailment
.
Dowd was originally listed as a game-time decision, but will miss his fifth straight contest on Wednesday against the Winnipeg Jets. Meanwhile, Bogdan Trineyev has been recalled from the AHL’s Hershey Bears to give the team an extra forward option as Dowd recovers.
The forward lines will remain the same against Winnipeg, with Connor McMichael remaining at center in Nic Dowd’s place and Hendrix Lapierre remaining in the mix as the 4C.
On defense, there will be a slight tweak, as Dylan McIlrath will draw back in with coach Spencer Carbery wanting to keep all of his blueliners game-ready and fresh.
Charlie Lindgren will get the start against the Jets, something the team had mapped out with Logan Thompson getting to rebound from a shaky start and playing on Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Here are the lines for Wednesday’s matchup:
Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Anthony Beauvillier
Aliasksei Protas-Justin Sourdif-Tom Wilson
Brandon Duhaime-Connor McMichael-Ryan Leonard
Sonny Milano-Hendrix Lapierre-Ethen Frank
Martin Fehervary-John Carlson
Jakob Chychrun-Matt Roy
Rasmus Sandin-Dylan McIlrath
Charlie Lindgren

Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena. Before the game, captain Alex Ovechkin will be honored with a pregame ceremony for hitting the 900-goal and 1,500-game milestones.
