Caps Daily Brew: Touring The New Capital One Arena, Oshie's TV Debut & Capitals Headlines
Here's your daily dose of Capitals headlines.

You may notice that it’s almost 2 p.m. and the Washington Capitals Daily Brew’s just going out. Usually, it kickstarts your day. But it’s been a busy morning, for good reason.
I spent the first part of this rainy Wednesday at Capital One Arena, getting a look at all the construction going on as it transforms into a new state-of-the-art venue and entertainment district.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment is really pulling out all the stops, and is committed to making it not just an arena but an experience. It was incredible to see the progress that’s been made considering the Capitals’ season just recently ended, and the entire event floor is already overhauled as MSE builds new player facilities and premium suites.
I’ll have more later today on the happenings at the arena here and at The Hockey News, but for now, here’s a peek at some fun stuff, including me in a hard hat.
I’m also 28 today! So that said, let’s celebrate in the best way, with some Caps news and notes.
Capitals News & Notes
- Nic Dowd and Brandon Duhaime bounce off one another on the ice and have barely taken a shift without one another. Not only that, but they’re close friends off the ice. On their bond and how their connection benefits the Capitals. (Check it out here)
- Part 2 of our Capitals Mailbag is out tonight. If you missed Part 1, we discuss third-line center options, what the team needs to make it to the next step and, of course, Mitch Marner.
Capitals Mailbag Pt. 1: Offseason Needs, Center Depth, Potential Of A Big Splash & Mitch Marner Talk
The Washington Capitals’ offseason is in full swing, and though it’s expected to be quieter than the overhaul last summer, the team still has some things on the to-do list to take care of.
- T.J. Oshie made his TV debut on ESPN last night, and he was a natural. Shoutout to T.J. as he enters the next stage of his career.
- In playoff news, tough to see Zach Hyman undergoing surgery and out for the playoffs after that hit last night. Such an important piece of the Edmonton Oilers room. As for the Eastern Conference, Niko Mikkola returning tonight for Florida is huge.
