Inside Charlie Lindgren's New Setup & The Story Behind The Iceberg Design
The Capitals netminder debuted new goalie gear this week at informal skates.
ARLINGTON, V.A. — Charlie Lindgren is taking the ice with a new look this season, as the Washington Capitals goaltender debuted his new setup for the 2025-26 campaign.
Lindgren’s new pads feature his traditional iceberg setup, with a twist; white is no longer a primary color on the pad, with blue and red making up the majority of the design with white serving as the iceberg pattern.
For the 31-year-old, he’s been a longtime fan of the iceberg pattern, since his high school days back in Minnesota.
“I started wearing the icebergs when I was a sophomore in high school,” Lindgren recalled. “There’s been one year that I didn’t wear the icebergs.”
For 15 years and counting, Lindgren’s sported the design, a signature of the goalie gear brand Vaughn. After switching to Bauer, he didn’t want to lose the iceberg pattern, so they’ve customized his pads each year to keep the pattern.
“It’s just been a part of me,” Lindgren noted.
