Capitals: Alex Ovechkin's Injury To Open Training Camp Is 'Nothing Significant'
The Capitals captain didn't take the ice with Group B, but is expected to be okay.
ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals got good news on the injury front on Thursday, as captain Alex Ovechkin’s lower-body ailment to open training camp is nothing serious.
Per coach Spencer Carbery, Ovechkin’s lower-body injury is “nothing significant,” and him not taking part in the skate test or practice to open camp was mainly precautionary. He listed Ovechkin as day-to-day.
The 40-year-old, who is entering his 21st NHL season, will meet with reporters at 3:15 p.m.
