ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals got some tough news on the first day of training camp, as captain Alex Ovechkin left the ice to be evaluated for a lower-body injury.
Ovechkin, who turned 40 on Wednesday, did not take part in the skate test and didn’t practice with Group B. He is expected to meet with the media around 2 p.m. ET, the team said.
