WASHINGTON — It was Ryan Leonard’s time to shine.
The Washington Capitals rookie took center stage on Tuesday, helping lead the Capitals to a convincing 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken.
Leonard led a pivotal night for the bottom-6, who produced both of D.C.’s goals at even strength. Nic Dowd opened the scoring in the first, then to start the second, Leonard sniped home a rocket from the slot to make it a 2-0 game.
Jakob Chychrun had the last goal for Washington on a power play later in the frame, and Tom Wilson iced the game late with an empty-netter. Jaden Schwartz scored the lone goal for Seattle.
Logan Thompson stopped 15 of 16 shots in the victory.
