Live From The Locker Room: Ovechkin & Capitals Talk 900, Binnington Trying To Steal Milestone Puck & Big Win Over Blues
Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals share their thoughts after a big 6-1 win and Ovi's milestone night.
WASHINGTON — It took a while for the Washington Capitals locker room to open after Wednesday’s 6-1 win over the St. Louis Blues, as cheers erupted from behind closed doors with teammates dousing Alex Ovechkin in beer and celebrating his 900th career NHL goal.
Ovechkin scored the milestone tally en route to a dominant victory that snapped a four-game losing streak, all while becoming the first player in NHL history to ever hit No. 900.
“A couple days ago somebody ask me, ‘Do you think about (900)?’ Of course, it’s huge number, no one ever did it in NHL history and to be the first player to ever do it, it’s a special moment,” Ovechkin said. “It’s nice it’s over, it’s nice to get it in the home stand so the fans, my family can be here. It’s pretty cool.”
What he wouldn’t comment on was Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington shoving the No. 900 puck down his pants in an attempt to keep it from the 40-year-old and the Capitals.
His teammates had some things to say, though.
“Maybe not the time for a joke,” a less-than-amused John Carlson noted.
“I don’t know. Maybe he was trying to grab it to give it to him,” Logan Thompson laughed. “Who knows?”

Big Congrats to our hero and captain, The GR8.
And, Jordan Binnington is a douche. I’m glad that when he wasn’t giving up goals tonight he had to stare at Canada’s Olympic starting goalie at the other end of the ice.
