Capitals vs. Lightning: Line Combos, Game Notes, Everything To Know
Here's what to know as the Capitals take on the Lightning.
WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals had no trouble picking up points in the Big Apple, sweeping their back-to-back series against the Islanders and Rangers in New York this past weekend. Now, they’re back home for a bit, and hope to keep the good times rolling against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
They’ll be without a key piece of the mix, though, as Pierre-Luc Dubois will sit out as he deals with a day-to-day lower-body injury. With Dubois out, Connor McMichael will be in his spot at second-line center, while Hendrix Lapierre will draw back into the mix.
On the blue line, Trevor van Riemsdyk draws back in for Declan Chisholm. Logan Thompson gets the start in goal.
Here are the full line combos:
Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Anthony Beauvillier
Aliaksei Protas-Connor McMichael-Tom Wilson
Sonny Milano-Hendrix Lapierre-Ryan Leonard
Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Justin Sourdif
Martin Fehervary-John Carlson
Jakob Chychrun-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Rasmus Sandin-Matt Roy
Logan Thompson
Charlie Lindgren
PP1: Ovechkin, Carlson, Strome, Milano, Wilson
PP2: Chychrun, Sandin, McMichael, Protas, Leonard
And here are additional game notes and things to keep in mind:
Alex Ovechkin is the player to watch tonight. He has assists in back-to-back games but remains hungry for his first goal of the campaign. Ovechkin’s also three away from 900 in his career.
Also keep an eye on Anthony Beauvillier, who scored last game as he reunited with Ovechkin and Dylan Strome up front. That “Strovillier” combo has worked wonders so far for D.C.
Jakob Chychrun has three assists, leading all defensemen this season, and Aliaksei Protas’ four points are the most on the Capitals so far this season.
