Back home for a few games ahead of the longest road trip of the season, the Washington Capitals are hoping to make the most of it, starting with Tuesday’s tilt against the Montreal Canadiens.
Here’s what to know before puck drop at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
Washington Capitals Line Combinations
The Capitals continue to deal with injury, as Justin Sourdif is out and day-to-day after being struck in the face with a puck back on Sunday. Tom Wilson also remains out but is “getting closer” to taking the next step in his recovery.
Meanwhile, Jakob Chychrun, who missed Sunday’s game due to illness, remains out. He skated at Tuesday’s morning skate, though is not ready to return just yet.

Washington Capitals Injury Updates
Justin Sourdif is day-to-day with what’s being called an upper-body injury after taking a puck to the face in Sunday’s loss.
Tom Wilson remains on the injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 3. He remains day-to-day and is still progressing and skating in a non-contact jersey. This week will likely mark another step in his progression.
Jakob Chychrun will miss his second straight game with illness.
Pierre-Luc Dubois is still recovering and expected back after the Olympic break.
