Capitals vs. Bruins: Game Group, Projected Lines & What To Know For Preseason Opener
The Capitals open their preseason on Sunday against the Bruins. Here’s what to know.
ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals are officially back on Sunday, as they’ll open their preseason on the road against the Boston Bruins.
While Washington’s first group of the day had an intense practice and lengthy conditioning skate, the second group ran lines and prepared for game action. Puck drop is at 5 p.m. on Sunday at TD Garden.
Here’s what the combinations are expected to look like:
Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Ethen Frank
Sonny Milano-Hendrix Lapierre-Anthony Beauvillier
Ivan Miroshnichenko-Henrik Rybinski-Bogdan Trineyev
Lynden Lakovic-Eriks Mateiko-Spencer Smallman
Declan Chisholm-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Calle Rosen-Vincent Iorio
Leon Muggli-Ryan Chesley
Garin Bjorklund
Logan Thompson
Some game notes…
This will be Sonny Milano’s first taste of game action since Nov. 6, 2024. It’s a big first step as he makes his NHL comeback following an injury-riddled season where he missed all but three games.
Keep an eye on Lynden Lakovic, who’s making his Capitals debut in the preseason. He’s been one of the standouts at camp so far, so big opportunity for him.
Also a notable game for Vincent Iorio, who’s waivers-eligible this year.
Garin Bjorklund will likely start. Logan Thompson may get some time but remains to be seen.
Sheldon Rempal practiced with the game group but will not travel. Justin Nachbaur will be the extra forward. Cam Allen and Aaron Ness also skated with Group B but won’t play.
