Capitals' Tom Wilson Questionable To Return vs. Blackhawks After Suffering Apparent Foot Injury
The Capitals forward had to be helped down the tunnel after a collision with Connor Murphy.
WASHINGTON — Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson is questionable to return to Saturday’s contest against the Chicago Blackhawks as he deals with a lower-body injury.
Wilson was skating behind the net in the first period when he collided with Connor Murphy. As he fell back, he appeared to land awkwardly on his right foot. He stayed down on the ice in visible pain, grabbing at his shin/ankle.
The 31-year-old skated off under his own power, but was limping on the way to the bench and ultimately, had to be helped down the tunnel.
It’s not a good sign for the Capitals, who are already missing Aliaksei Protas due to a lower-body injury and have been without Pierre-Luc Dubois since November.
Wilson is the Capitals’ leading scorer this season with 22 goals and 42 points through 40 games. He was just named to the Canadian Olympic Team on Wednesday.
