Capitals Share Positive Update On Tom Wilson After Suffering Lower-Body Injury vs. Blackhawks
Capitals coach Spencer Carbery said he doesn't think Tom Wilson's injury is overly serious.
WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals got a positive update on Tom Wilson after he left Saturday’s contest with a lower-body injury, as coach Spencer Carbery said that he doesn’t think it’s anything “too bad.”
Carbery added that the Capitals will know more about Wilson and his status on Sunday. Washington is scheduled to practice at 11 a.m.
In the first period of Saturday’s loss to Chicago, Wilson was skating behind the net in the offensive zone when he collided with Connor Murphy. He landed awkwardly back on his right leg and was in visible discomfort, grabbing at his ankle/shin before limping off the ice under his own power. He was ultimately helped down the tunnel.
Wilson’s injury not being overly serious is good news for D.C., who is already missing Pierre-Luc Dubois and played without Aliaksei Protas, whose status remains up in the air as he deals with his own lower-body ailment.
The 31-year-old power forward leads the Capitals in goals (22) and points (42) through 41 games this season. He was named to Canada’s Olympic squad back on Wednesday.
