Capitals Injury Updates: Tom Wilson Day-To-Day, Aliaksei Protas Remains Out vs. Ducks
The Capitals got some positive updates on Monday.
The Washington Capitals got good news on the Tom Wilson front on Monday, as coach Spencer Carbery said that he is listed as day-to-day.
Per Carbery, Wilson will not play against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, but the team will see how he is doing on Tuesday and go from there. It is not an overly serious injury, and it’s a bullet dodged for the organization.
“When you see situations like that, you get a little bit worried when someone can’t put weight on their leg, like Willy in that scenario,” Carbery said. “So your mind goes to, ‘Oh, geez, is this something bad?’ So thankful it’s just day-to-day. Won’t play tonight (against the Anaheim Ducks), but we’ll see how he is tomorrow.”
Wilson was hurt back on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks after colliding with Connor Murphy and landing awkwardly back on his right leg. He was able to get off the ice under his own power, but needed help getting down the tunnel and has not skated since.
The 31-year-old leads the Capitals in goals (22) and points (42) through 41 games so far this season and was on a three-game point streak prior to his injury.
Meanwhile, in other injury news, Aliaksei Protas took part in morning skate and was listed as day-to-day with his own lower-body injury, but will not play.
